Clean the outer shell with a mild soap solution and a soft, damp cloth; avoid petroleum-based cleaners, solvents or abrasive pads that can damage the shell finish and graphic.
Remove the inner liner and cheek pads before washing; hand-wash in cool water with mild detergent, rinse thoroughly and allow to air-dry completely before refitting — never use a tumble dryer.
Clean the visor with a dedicated helmet-visor cleaner or warm soapy water and a clean microfibre cloth; never wipe a dry visor, as this causes fine scratches that impair vision.
Lubricate the visor pivot mechanism occasionally with a small amount of silicone-based lubricant if it becomes stiff; avoid petroleum-based oils.
Store the helmet in a helmet bag or on a flat surface, away from direct sunlight, fuel, oils and chemicals — these degrade both the EPS liner and shell materials over time.
Do not hang the helmet by its chin strap for extended periods, as sustained tension can fatigue the strap webbing.
Inspect the retention system (buckle and strap) for fraying, cracking or damage before every ride.
Retire and replace the helmet immediately following any significant impact — EPS liner damage is invisible to the naked eye but compromises protection.
As a general guideline, replace the helmet every five years from the date of manufacture regardless of apparent condition, or sooner if the liner, shell or retention system shows visible deterioration.
