Clean the outer shell with a soft cloth dampened with warm water and mild soap; avoid petroleum-based solvents, abrasive cleaners or compressed air as these can degrade the shell and visor coatings.
Clean the visor by soaking it briefly in warm soapy water, then wiping gently with a soft microfibre cloth — never dry-wipe a dusty visor, as this causes scratching.
If the inner liner and cheek pads are removable, hand-wash them in cool water with mild detergent and allow to air-dry fully before refitting; do not machine-wash or tumble-dry.
Inspect the chin strap and retention system before each ride; retire the helmet if the strap webbing shows fraying or the buckle does not engage firmly.
After any significant impact — even one that appears minor — retire the helmet and replace it; the EPS liner absorbs energy by crushing and cannot be inspected reliably by eye.
Store the helmet in its protective bag or a padded box away from direct sunlight, fuel vapours, and extreme heat, all of which degrade the shell and foam over time.
Do not paint, apply stickers with strong adhesive, or use spray lubricants near the shell, as many solvents in these products attack polycarbonate and fibreglass composites.
Replace the visor if it becomes scratched to the point of impairing vision, particularly for night riding.
