The Yuasa YT12B-BS is a sealed, maintenance-free 12V AGM motorcycle battery supplied as a direct replacement for bikes originally fitted with a YT12B-BS. Yuasa is one of the most widely specified battery brands in motorcycling, and the YT-series maintenance-free range is a straightforward like-for-like swap when the original battery reaches the end of its life.

Because it uses absorbed glass mat (AGM) construction, the electrolyte is held in the separators rather than sloshing about as free liquid, so there is no need to check or top up cell levels in service. It suits riders replacing a tired battery, workshops stocking common fitments, and anyone who wants a sealed unit that can be installed and left alone.

Please confirm the battery type, terminal layout and case size specified for your motorcycle before ordering.

  • Sealed maintenance-free AGM (VRLA) construction — no electrolyte topping up in service
  • 12 volt motorcycle battery
  • Direct replacement for machines specified with a YT12B-BS battery
  • Genuine Yuasa YT-series maintenance-free unit

  • Check your motorcycle's handbook for the specified battery type and terminal orientation before fitting; do not force a battery that does not match the OEM specification.
  • Do not remove or pierce the factory sealing strip on a sealed maintenance-free battery — once sealed, the cells must not be opened and no water or electrolyte should ever be added.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal first when removing the old battery and reconnect it last when fitting the new one, to reduce the risk of a short circuit against the frame.
  • Make sure the battery is fully charged before it goes into service, and use a charger with a mode intended for sealed AGM/maintenance-free batteries rather than an old-style unregulated or fast charger.
  • Keep the terminals clean, dry and tight; a light smear of terminal grease after fitting helps limit corrosion.
  • Secure the battery firmly in its tray with the strap or bracket so it cannot move around — vibration and impact shorten battery life.
  • If the bike is stored or ridden only occasionally, keep the battery topped up with a suitable AGM-compatible maintenance or trickle charger, or remove it and store it in a cool, dry place off the ground and charge it periodically.
  • Avoid leaving the battery flat or deeply discharged for long periods, as this causes sulfation and permanent capacity loss.
  • Wipe the case with a damp cloth only; keep flames, sparks and cigarettes away, and wear eye protection and gloves when handling or charging.
  • If the battery repeatedly goes flat, have the bike's charging system and parasitic draw checked rather than simply recharging it again.
