The Yoshimura RS-2 Enduro Series slip-on is a direct replacement muffler for the Kawasaki KLX300R, built around a stainless steel construction with an aluminium muffler. It is aimed at trail and enduro riders who want more usable power and a lighter tail end from an otherwise standard KLX300R.
Yoshimura matched the RS-2 muffler to the mid-size 300R after dyno development, claiming gains of 4% maximum horsepower and 4.2% maximum torque, along with a 3.5 lb (about 1.6 kg) saving over the standard unit. A USFS-approved spark arrestor comes pre-installed, so the muffler is ready for use where spark arrestors are required.
The RS-2 is designed and manufactured by Yoshimura in Chino, California, and is intended to fit a factory-standard motorcycle. Yoshimura notes that the system was designed and tested against US-market machines, so fitment and performance may vary in other markets, and other aftermarket or OE accessories not fitted from the factory may not be compatible.

- Fit only to a standard KLX300R as delivered from the factory; check clearance and compatibility if other OE or aftermarket accessories are already fitted.
- Always work on a completely cold exhaust, and allow the muffler to cool fully before handling, washing or storing the bike.
- During fitting, leave the clamp and mounting hardware finger-tight until the muffler is correctly aligned with the mid-pipe and subframe, then tighten evenly.
- Wipe fingerprints, grease and packaging residue from the stainless and aluminium surfaces before the first run to reduce permanent staining and heat marks.
- Clean once cool using warm water, mild soap and a soft cloth; avoid abrasive pads, oven cleaner and strong solvents on the aluminium muffler and end cap.
- After off-road rides, wash mud off the muffler body and check the clamp, mounting bolts and any springs for tightness, as vibration and impacts can loosen them.
- When washing the bike, plug the outlet to keep water out of the muffler, then run the engine afterwards to dry out any moisture that has entered.
- Inspect and clean carbon build-up from the USFS spark arrestor periodically, and keep it fitted - many forest and park areas require an approved spark arrestor.
- If the exhaust note becomes noticeably louder or raspier over time, have the muffler repacked with the correct Yoshimura packing material rather than continuing to ride on degraded packing.
