- Disconnect the battery before installing or replacing the horn to avoid accidental shorts.
- Mount the horn securely to a rigid bracket; loose mounting causes vibration fatigue and premature failure.
- Connect the positive terminal to the horn circuit feed and earth the unit to the frame — observe correct polarity if the horn is polarised.
- Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the electrical terminals after connection to resist corrosion.
- Inspect mounting hardware and wiring connections periodically, particularly after riding in wet or salty conditions.
- Keep the horn body clear of mud and standing water; wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
- Test horn operation at each service interval to confirm correct output — a weakening tone can indicate a poor earth connection or low system voltage.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or adjust the internal disc — the horn is a sealed unit.
