- Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces and remove every trace of old gasket material before fitting any new gaskets — residue will compromise the seal.
- Never reuse old gaskets; always install the complete new set supplied.
- Apply a light film of clean engine oil to all O-rings before assembly to ease fitting and prevent tearing during installation.
- Torque all fasteners progressively and in the correct sequence to the engine manufacturer's specified values using a calibrated torque wrench.
- Inspect the cylinder bore, cylinder head, and piston for wear, scoring, or damage before completing the rebuild; replace worn components as required before installing new gaskets.
- Do not apply gasket sealant to any surface unless specifically directed by the engine manufacturer's service manual.
- After reassembly, allow the engine to reach full operating temperature and then inspect carefully for any signs of oil or compression leaks before returning to service.
- Store any unused gaskets flat in their original packaging in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, petroleum products, and solvents.
