- Thoroughly clean the exhaust port face and pipe flange mating surfaces before fitting — remove all traces of the old gasket and carbon build-up.
- Inspect mating surfaces for warping or damage; a warped surface will cause the new gasket to leak regardless of material quality.
- Do not reuse removed exhaust gaskets; always fit new ones during reassembly.
- Tighten exhaust fasteners evenly and in a cross pattern to the torque specification stated in the Honda CR250R service manual for the applicable model year.
- Allow the engine to reach full operating temperature on its first run after installation, then let it cool completely before re-checking fastener torque.
