The Vee Rubber VRM474 V-Grip is an adventure rear tyre in 150/70B17, built for riders who spend more time on dirt, gravel and formed trails than on bitumen. Its tread is weighted 40/60 on-road/off-road, so it prioritises bite in loose surfaces while remaining road legal for the ride out and back.

It suits dual-sport and adventure machines in the 650cc to 1200cc range running a 17-inch rear rim, and is a tubeless fitment. A practical choice for touring riders and commuters who want a hard-wearing knobbly-biased rear without stepping up to a full off-road tyre.

Sold individually as a rear tyre. Fitting, balancing and disposal of the old tyre are not included.

  • Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre fitter, and only to a rim rated for tubeless use in the 150/70B17 size.
  • Take it easy for the first few hundred kilometres while the new tread and any release agent from the mould scrub in — avoid hard acceleration, heavy braking and full lean angles until the surface has been worn evenly.
  • Check and set pressures cold, before riding, using the pressure specified by your motorcycle's manufacturer on the placard or in the owner's manual; recheck at least fortnightly and before long trips.
  • If you drop pressures for sand, gravel or trail work, return to the on-road pressure before riding at highway speeds.
  • Do not exceed the load and speed limits indicated by the 69Q marking, and never overload the bike beyond its rated capacity.
  • Inspect the tread and sidewalls regularly for cuts, bulges, uneven or scalloped wear and embedded stones or debris; replace the tyre if the casing or sidewall is damaged.
  • Replace before the tread reaches the legal minimum depth in your state, and check the wear indicators moulded into the grooves.
  • A tubeless tyre can lose pressure slowly after a puncture rather than deflating instantly — if you find the pressure dropping, have the tyre inspected internally rather than relying on an external plug alone.
  • Clean with mild soapy water and rinse; keep tyre shine, solvents, petrol and silicone dressings off the tread, as they can reduce grip.
  • Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and away from electric motors, which generate ozone that degrades rubber.
