The Vee Rubber VRM-474 is an adventure and dual-sport rear tyre in 130/80B17, supplied in a tubeless 65Q specification. Its block tread is set up for a 40/60 on-road to off-road split, so it leans towards dirt, gravel and formed trails while remaining road legal for the ride out and back.

It suits riders of larger adventure and dual-sport machines from roughly 650cc through to 1200cc who want a serious off-road-biased rear without moving to a full knobby. A practical replacement option for touring, station tracks and mixed-surface riding.

  • Adventure and dual-sport rear tyre in 130/80B17

  • Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre fitter using proper machinery — levering a belted casing on by hand risks damaging the bead and the rim.
  • Being a tubeless tyre, fit it only to a rim rated for tubeless use; if your wheel is a spoked type that requires a tube, use the tube specified by the wheel or motorcycle manufacturer.
  • Observe the rotation direction and any fitting markings moulded into the sidewall when mounting.
  • Ride gently for the first stretch after fitting so the mould release agents scrub off and the tread settles, and avoid hard acceleration, heavy braking and deep lean angles until then.
  • Set and check cold inflation pressures to the figures in your motorcycle's owner's manual or placard, and re-check them at least before every long ride — off-road pressure changes should be returned to the on-road setting before you get back on the highway.
  • Inspect the tread and sidewalls regularly for cuts, embedded stones, bulges or cracking, particularly after gravel and rocky sections, and replace the tyre before the tread reaches the legal minimum depth for your state.
  • Avoid parking or storing the bike for long periods with the tyre resting on petrol, oil, solvents or grease, as these degrade the rubber compound.
  • Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and away from electric motors that generate ozone.
  • Do not exceed the load and speed capability indicated by the 65Q marking, and do not attempt a permanent repair on a damaged adventure tyre — have any puncture assessed professionally.
