The Vance & Hines Straightshots is a complete two-into-two exhaust system for Harley-Davidson Softail models from 1986 to 2011, finished in chrome. Its staggered dual layout delivers the classic drag pipe look that has stayed in style on Softails for decades.

Full-length one-piece heat shields give the system a clean, seamless line from header to tip, with no visible joins along the pipe. An optional quiet baffle is available separately for riders who want to bring the sound level down.

Fitment note: 1986–2006 models require Vance & Hines O2 sensor bungs, part number V16925, which are sold separately.

  • Confirm your model year before fitting: 1986–2006 bikes need V16925 O2 sensor bungs, ordered separately.
  • Fit the system to a completely cold engine to avoid burns and to keep gaskets seated correctly.
  • Use new exhaust gaskets and leave all fasteners finger-tight until the whole system is hung and aligned, then tighten evenly from the heads back.
  • Re-check all clamps and mounting fasteners after the first ride or two, as heat cycling can allow them to settle and loosen.
  • Handle chrome with clean gloves during installation — fingerprints and oils will bake into the finish on first heat-up and can leave permanent marks.
  • Clean the chrome with a mild detergent and a soft cloth once cool, then dry fully; avoid abrasive pads, solvents and acidic wheel cleaners.
  • Do not pressure-wash directly into the pipe outlets, and avoid spraying a hot exhaust with cold water.
  • After riding in rain or on salted or coastal roads, rinse and dry the system, then apply a chrome-safe polish or protectant to limit pitting and rust.
  • If you fit the optional quiet baffle, check it remains secure periodically.
  • Have the fuelling checked after installation, as a full exhaust change alters how the engine breathes.
