- Fit the panels to a clean, dry bike and start all fasteners by hand before tightening, so the plastics locate correctly without stressing the mounting tabs.
- Tighten mounting bolts firmly but do not overtighten - overtorquing is the most common cause of cracked or elongated mounting holes.
- Allow the plastics to warm in the sun for a short time before fitting in cold weather; warm panels flex more easily into position.
- Wash with warm water and a mild detergent using a soft sponge or cloth, then rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Avoid petrol, brake cleaner, solvents and aggressive degreasers, which can haze, soften or discolour the surface.
- Keep high-pressure washer nozzles well back from graphics and panel edges to avoid lifting decals or forcing water behind the panels.
- Check mounting bolts and grommets periodically, particularly after race meetings or rough rides, and replace missing or perished grommets rather than running panels loose.
- Store spare or off-season panels flat and out of direct sunlight to prevent warping and UV fading.
- Inspect panels for hairline cracks after a crash and replace damaged pieces, as cracks tend to spread from the mounting points under vibration.
