The Shinko SR244 is a dual-purpose tyre built to work as comfortably on dirt as it does on sealed roads. Its 244 Series "Claw" tread pattern is shaped to shed dirt and mud so the blocks keep biting off-road, while still laying down usable traction on the bitumen for smaller-capacity machines.

This 3.00-17 43P tube-type size suits trail bikes, farm bikes, small-capacity dual sports and commuters running a 17-inch rim, and it is approved for either front or rear fitment. A sensible choice if your riding mixes gravel, paddock tracks and road kilometres and you would rather run one tyre than compromise with a pure road or pure knobby pattern.

  • This is a tube-type (TT) tyre — it must be run with a suitable inner tube and rim tape, not fitted tubeless.
  • Fit a fresh inner tube whenever you fit a new tyre; an old, stretched tube in a new tyre is a common cause of early failure.
  • Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified tyre fitter using proper tyre levers or a machine, and take care not to pinch the tube during fitment.
  • Observe the rotation direction arrow and any "front" or "rear" markings moulded into the sidewall when fitting.
  • Set and check cold inflation pressures against the pressures specified by your motorcycle's manufacturer (usually on the chain guard, swingarm or in the owner's manual), and re-check at least weekly — tube-type set-ups lose pressure more readily than tubeless.
  • Ride gently for the first outing on a new tyre until the glossy mould-release finish has scrubbed off and the tread has bedded in; avoid hard acceleration, heavy braking and deep lean angles during this period.
  • Do not exceed the load and speed capability marked on the sidewall (43P), and reduce speed and pace when running lowered pressures off-road.
  • Inspect regularly for cuts, embedded stones, bulges, sidewall damage and uneven or squared-off wear, and replace the tyre before the tread reaches the Australian legal minimum of 1.5 mm across the tread pattern.
  • Clean with mild soapy water and a soft brush only; keep petrol, solvents, chain lube and silicone-based tyre shine off the tread and sidewalls.
  • Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and any fuels or chemicals.
