The Twin Air Pre-Filter is a first line of defence for the airbox on KTM's 790 and 890 Adventure and Adventure R. It seats inside the intake nozzles and catches sand and heavy dust before it reaches the main air filter.
It is aimed at riders covering sandy, dusty and desert kilometres — outback touring, gravel days and rally-style events — where a standard filter can load up quickly. Because it is shaped and sized to the nozzles, it fits snugly and traps debris without impeding airflow, so you gain protection without choking the intake.

- Press the pre-filter into the intake nozzle so it seats evenly with no gaps around the edge — a poor seal lets sand bypass it.
- Treat it as an addition to the main air filter, not a replacement: keep servicing the standard filter to KTM's schedule.
- Inspect and clean after every sandy or dusty ride; in extreme conditions check it at fuel stops.
- Wash in warm soapy water or a purpose-made filter cleaner, then rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Squeeze the water out rather than wringing or twisting, so the pre-filter keeps its shape.
- Allow it to dry completely before refitting — refitting damp can draw moisture into the intake.
- Do not clean with petrol, solvents or a high-pressure washer, and keep it away from heat sources when drying.
- Replace it if you find tears, thin patches or perished edges, as damage compromises the seal.
- Store spares flat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, fuel and solvents.
