- Inspect all mounting fasteners for tightness before each trip and again after the first 50 km following initial installation.
- Apply a light coating of anti-corrosion grease or thread-lock compound to bolt threads during installation to prevent seizing.
- Periodically re-check and re-torque fasteners to the specified torque value, particularly after extended vibration or rough road use.
- Clean the mounting plate with a damp cloth after exposure to rain, road salt or mud; dry thoroughly to prevent corrosion at contact points.
- When fitting or removing a top case, ensure the case locking lever is fully engaged or released before loading; do not force the locking mechanism.
- If the plate is removed for an extended period, store it indoors in a dry location away from road chemicals.
- Check the plate and hardware for signs of stress, cracking or deformation at each seasonal service.
