The SHAD Top Master is a model-specific fitting kit that lets you mount a SHAD top case to the BMW R1300GS. Each Top Master is engineered around the individual bike, so the brackets follow the existing mounting points and subframe layout for a secure, tidy fit rather than a generic bolt-on solution.
It suits riders who want luggage that can come on and off quickly — commuting through the week, then loading up for touring or adventure trips. The fitting kit stays on the bike and the top case attaches via a mounting plate, so removal takes seconds and the bike keeps a clean look when you ride unladen.
Note: the top case mounting plate is not part of this kit. Plates are supplied with SHAD top cases, with the exception of the SHAD Terra range, where the plate is bought separately. This kit is compatible with the OEM electronic BMW rack.

- Fit the kit using the SHAD instructions supplied for this bike model, following the specified bolt sequence and tightening values.
- Add a SHAD mounting plate to the fitting before a top case can be attached — plates come with SHAD top cases, but must be purchased separately for the SHAD Terra range.
- Check that all mounting bolts are still tight after the first ride with a loaded case, then re-check periodically and before long trips.
- Confirm the top case is fully latched and locked onto the plate before setting off, and give it a firm tug to verify engagement.
- Observe the top case and motorcycle load limits stated by SHAD and BMW, and keep heavy items low and forward in the case rather than in the top box.
- Remove the top case when it is not needed; leaving the fitting kit on the bike keeps re-fitting quick and reduces unnecessary load on the subframe.
- Wipe the brackets and plate area clean of road grime, salt and insects with mild soapy water and a soft cloth, then dry — avoid harsh solvents and high-pressure washing directly at the fasteners.
- Inspect the brackets, plate and fasteners regularly for corrosion, cracks, distortion or missing hardware, and stop using the system until any damaged part is replaced.
- Keep the plate's locking mechanism and latch points free of dirt; a light spray of suitable lubricant on the lock barrel helps it operate smoothly, and avoid getting grease on the case seals.
- After any crash, drop or heavy impact, have the fitting kit and its mounting points inspected before carrying luggage again.
