The Tarmac LF19 is a 5-pin LED-compatible indicator relay designed to replace a motorcycle's OEM flasher unit when LED indicator bulbs are fitted. Standard OEM relays rely on the resistance of incandescent bulbs to regulate flash rate; swapping to LEDs without changing the relay typically results in hyperflashing or indicators that fail to flash at all.

This drop-in relay corrects that behaviour, restoring a normal, road-legal flash rate. It suits riders who have upgraded or are planning to upgrade their indicator bulbs to LED and need a compatible relay to match.

  • Disconnect the motorcycle's battery before replacing the flasher relay to avoid accidental short circuits.
  • Locate the existing OEM flasher relay — typically found under the seat, in the fuse box area, or behind a fairing panel; consult your motorcycle's service manual for the exact location.
  • Ensure all 5 pins align correctly with the socket before pressing the relay firmly into place; do not force a misaligned connection.
  • After installation, reconnect the battery and test all four indicators (front and rear, left and right) for correct flash rate and function before riding.
  • If indicators still hyperflash or do not flash after fitting, verify that the socket pin layout of your motorcycle matches the LF19's 5-pin configuration, as some models use a different pin count or arrangement.
  • Keep the relay and its connector dry; if riding in wet conditions, inspect the connector for corrosion or moisture ingress periodically.
  • Do not exceed the relay's rated load — avoid mixing LED and high-wattage incandescent bulbs on the same circuit.
  • If the relay becomes hot to the touch during normal operation, inspect the circuit for a wiring fault before continuing use.
