- Clean the outer shell with a mild soap solution and a soft cloth; avoid petroleum-based solvents, petrol or harsh cleaners that can degrade shell materials.
- Remove the internal liner and cheek pads (if the design allows) and hand-wash in mild detergent; rinse thoroughly and allow to air-dry completely before reinserting.
- Wipe the MIPS liner layer with a damp cloth; check that it moves freely within the shell and is free from soiling or damage.
- Inspect the chin strap, buckle and retention hardware before each ride; do not use the helmet if any component shows fraying, cracking or deformation.
- Replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact, even where no visible damage is apparent, as internal EPS liner compression is not visible to the eye.
- Never apply paint, stickers or adhesives to the shell without manufacturer guidance, as these can compromise structural integrity.
- Store in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, fuels and chemical vapours.
- If the helmet uses a peak or visor, check that its mounting screws are secure before each ride and replace the visor if cracked or excessively scratched.
