Clean the outer shell with a soft cloth and mild soap and lukewarm water; never use petroleum-based solvents, paint thinners, petrol or abrasive cleaners, as these degrade the shell and EPS liner.
Rinse the face shield with warm water before wiping to avoid scratching; replace the shield if scratches impair visibility.
Insert the Pinlock EVO lens by locating the pins on the inside of the CNS-1 shield and pressing firmly until both sides click into place; ensure the silicone seal contacts the shield evenly.
Remove the cheek pads and interior lining and hand wash in cool to lukewarm water with a mild detergent; squeeze gently — do not wring — and allow to air dry fully before reinserting.
Store the helmet in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, petrol fumes and chemical vapours, which degrade EPS and composite materials over time.
Do not hang the helmet from handlebars or mirrors; sustained pressure on the chin bar can distort the EPS liner shape.
Inspect the E.Q.R.S. cheek pad pull tabs periodically to confirm they are correctly seated and remain accessible in an emergency.
Replace the helmet after any significant impact regardless of visible damage — the EPS liner is a single-use energy absorber that may not perform correctly after an event.
Shoei recommends retiring the helmet within five years of first use, or seven years from the date of manufacture, whichever comes first, due to gradual material degradation.
