Clean the shell with a soft damp cloth and mild soap; avoid petroleum-based solvents, petrol, or abrasive cleaners — these degrade the lacquer, shell, and EPS liner.
Clean the visor with warm water and a soft cloth; never wipe a dry visor as trapped grit will scratch the surface.
Remove the Pinlock EVO lens from the visor for separate cleaning with warm water only; do not use glass cleaners, ammonia-based sprays, or dry cloths on the lens.
Remove the interior liner and cheek pads and wash according to the sewn-in care label; allow all interior components to air-dry completely before refitting — do not use a tumble dryer.
Check that EQR (Emergency Quick Release) cheek pad tabs are correctly seated after each time the interior is removed and refitted.
Store the helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, fuel vapour, and chemical fumes; prolonged exposure to UV light and hydrocarbons degrades both the shell and EPS liner over time.
Replace the helmet after any significant impact, even where no external damage is visible; EPS liners are designed for single-impact absorption and may not perform correctly after a strike.
Shoei advises considering replacement after five years of use from first use date, as shell and liner materials degrade over time regardless of visible condition.
