Clean the outer shell with a soft cloth dampened with mild soapy water or a Shoei-approved helmet cleaner; never use petrol, solvents, paint thinners or abrasive compounds as these degrade the shell and liner materials.
Clean the CNS-1 visor with warm water and a soft cloth; avoid dry cloths or abrasive materials that can scratch the optical surface and impair vision.
Remove the interior lining and cheek pads and hand-wash with mild detergent in lukewarm water; allow to air-dry completely before reinstalling — do not machine-wash or tumble-dry.
The Pinlock EVO anti-fog insert can be carefully removed and rinsed with warm water; allow it to air-dry fully before refitting and do not wipe it dry, as the lens surface is delicate.
Replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact, even if no external damage is visible — the EPS liner absorbs energy by deforming internally and cannot be reliably assessed by eye.
Replace the visor if it becomes heavily scratched, cracked or discoloured, as optical distortion is a direct safety risk, particularly in low-light conditions.
Store the helmet in its protective bag in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, fuel vapours and chemical fumes, all of which degrade shell integrity and liner materials over time.
Shoei recommends retiring the helmet approximately five years from the date of first use, regardless of visible condition, due to material degradation over time.
