  • Clean the outer shell with lukewarm water and a mild soap applied with a soft cloth; avoid petrol, paint thinner, solvents or abrasive cleaners as these degrade the shell finish and graphics.
  • Clean the CNS-1 visor using a soft, damp, lint-free cloth or the dedicated Pinlock cloth; never use dry cloth, paper towels or rough materials that can scratch the anti-scratch coating.
  • Install the Pinlock EVO lens by aligning it with the pins on the inside of the visor and pressing until it clicks into place; check the lens seal periodically for gaps that may allow fogging.
  • Remove the cheek pads and crown liner for washing; machine wash in a delicate cold-water cycle with mild detergent and allow to air-dry completely before refitting — do not tumble dry.
  • Store the helmet in its helmet bag or a padded case in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, fuel vapours and extremes of heat, all of which degrade EPS foam integrity over time.
  • Do not rest the helmet on the bike's mirrors or fuel tank; contact with fuel or surface chemicals can compromise the shell and liner materials.
  • Replace the helmet after any significant impact, even where no visible external damage is present — the EPS liner absorbs energy once and must be replaced thereafter.
  • Shoei recommends retiring helmets within 7 years of the manufacture date stamped inside the helmet, regardless of outward condition.
  • Inspect the visor pivot mechanism and ratchet regularly; if resistance or play develops, have the visor assembly checked by an authorised Shoei dealer.
