Clean the outer shell with a soft damp cloth and mild soap; never use petroleum-based solvents, abrasive compounds, or compressed air, as these can damage the paint finish and composite shell structure.
Clean the CNS-3 visor with lukewarm water and a soft, lint-free cloth; remove the visor from the helmet before cleaning to prevent water ingress and streaking on the inner sun shield.
If the Pinlock EVO insert becomes scratched or develops persistent fogging, replace it — scratches in the insert cannot be buffed out and will affect vision.
Remove the interior lining and cheek pads regularly and wash on a gentle cold-water cycle or by hand; allow all liner components to air-dry completely before refitting.
Operate the flip-up chin bar with a deliberate, firm motion; if resistance is felt, inspect the hinge area for trapped debris before forcing movement.
Use the drop-down sun shield lever gently; do not use the sun shield as a substitute for the primary outer visor in rain or low-light conditions, and keep it retracted when not needed to protect the lens surface.
Do not apply aftermarket stickers, adhesives, solvents, or spray paints to the helmet shell, as these can penetrate and degrade the composite material beneath the clear coat.
Check the EQR cheek pad retention tabs periodically; if the tabs feel loose or the mechanism does not click firmly, have the pads inspected or replaced by an authorised Shoei service centre.
Store the helmet in a helmet bag away from direct sunlight, fuel vapour, and chemical storage; UV exposure and hydrocarbon fumes degrade both the shell and the interior foam over time.
Replace the helmet following any significant impact, even where no visible damage is apparent — internal foam crushes on impact and does not recover its protective capacity.
