  • Clean the outer shell with mild soapy water and a soft cloth; rinse thoroughly and allow to air-dry completely before storing.
  • Clean the face shield and drop-down sun visor with lukewarm water and a clean microfibre cloth — never use petroleum-based cleaners, abrasive cloths, or paper towels, which scratch optical surfaces.
  • Remove the interior liner and cheek pads and hand-wash in cool water with a small amount of mild detergent; allow to air-dry fully before refitting — do not tumble-dry.
  • Keep petrol, oils, chain lubricant, solvents, and aerosol insect repellents away from the helmet shell, liner, and visor — these compounds degrade shell resin, EPS foam, and optical coatings.
  • After any significant impact, retire the helmet immediately even if no external damage is visible; the EPS liner is a single-use energy-absorbing component and may be compromised internally.
  • Store the helmet in the supplied bag, away from direct sunlight, UV lamps, and heat sources such as exhaust pipes or car parcel shelves, to preserve shell integrity and liner materials.
  • Inspect the CNS-5 shield, QSV-1 sun visor mechanism, pivot screws, and retention system seals periodically; replace the shield if it becomes scratched or the Pinlock seal is damaged.
  • Fit the supplied Pinlock 80 EVO lens to the inner face shield pins to minimise fogging in cool or humid conditions; ensure the lens edge seal contacts the shield evenly all the way around.
  • Shoei recommends retiring the helmet within five to seven years from the date of manufacture stamped inside, regardless of outward condition.
