- Clean the outer shell with warm water and a mild, non-abrasive soap; rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Never use petrol, acetone, paint thinner, aerosol sprays, or other solvents on any part of the helmet — these degrade both the shell and liner materials.
- Remove the interior cheek pads and crown liner before washing; hand-wash in cool water with gentle detergent, then air-dry completely away from direct heat sources before refitting.
- Clean the CNS-3 visor using clean water and a soft, lint-free cloth; avoid paper towels or abrasive cloths that can scratch the anti-scratch coating.
- To minimise fogging, fit the Pinlock 70 EVO insert to the visor; keep it clean and replace it when pitting or cloudiness reduces clarity.
- Store the helmet in a breathable helmet bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, UV exposure, and chemical fumes including fuel and exhaust.
- Replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact, even if no visible damage is present — EPS liner compression is not visible to the eye.
- Inspect the chin strap buckle and retention webbing before every ride; do not ride with a frayed, worn, or damaged strap.
- Familiarise yourself and your riding companions with the E.Q.R.S. pull tabs on the cheek pads, which allow emergency personnel to remove the helmet safely.
- Do not apply paint, adhesive stickers, or chemical treatments to the shell; adhesives and solvents can weaken the composite structure without visible signs.
- Shoei recommends retiring the helmet after five years from the date of manufacture, or sooner if wear, chemical degradation, or impact damage is present.
