  • Remove the liner and cheek pads using the pull tabs before cleaning; hand-wash in lukewarm water with a mild, non-detergent soap and allow to air-dry fully before refitting.
  • Clean the outer shell with a soft damp cloth and mild soapy water only — never use petroleum spirits, petrol, acetone or abrasive cleaners, as these degrade the shell finish and graphic lacquer.
  • Clean the visor with warm soapy water and a soft lint-free cloth; never wipe a dry visor as dust particles will cause fine scratches.
  • If fitted with a Pinlock anti-fog lens, remove it before immersing the visor in water and refit once both surfaces are dry.
  • After riding in the rain, open the visor, remove the liner if possible, and allow the helmet to dry naturally in a ventilated space — do not use a hair dryer or place near direct heat.
  • Store the helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, fuels and solvents; use a helmet bag to protect the shell and visor from dust and scratches during storage or transport.
  • Replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact, even if no damage is visible — EPS liner compression is internal and cannot be assessed by eye.
  • Inspect the chin strap and buckle before each ride; if the strap is frayed or the buckle does not lock positively, have it serviced or replaced by an authorised Shoei dealer.
  • Check the visor pivot screws periodically and tighten gently if the visor feels loose — over-tightening can crack the pivot boss.
