The Shoei EX-Zero is an open-face helmet designed for riders who want the clean silhouette of a classic scrambler or café racer build alongside the build quality Shoei is known for. - Clean the outer shell with a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and warm water; never use petrol, solvents, paint thinners, or abrasive cleaners as these degrade the shell and finish.
- Remove the interior liner and cheek pads before washing them — hand-wash in cool water with a small amount of mild detergent, rinse thoroughly, and allow to air-dry completely before reinstalling.
- Do not use a high-pressure hose, compressed air, or tumble dryer on any part of the helmet.
- Inspect the shell, retention system (chin strap and buckle), and EPS liner for cracks, deformation, or wear before each ride.
- Replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact, even if no visible external damage is present — EPS liner damage is not always obvious from the outside.
- Keep the helmet away from petrol, fuel vapours, and chemical sprays; even brief contact can compromise the structural foam and outer shell.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources; UV exposure and heat degrade shell materials and foam over time.
- Shoei recommends retiring the helmet and replacing it in line with their published service-life guidelines — check Shoei's official guidance for the current recommended replacement interval from date of first use.
