The Pirelli Scorpion XC Mid Hard is an enduro rear tyre built for medium to hard terrain — hardpack trails, rocky going, gravel and firm forest tracks where a soft-terrain knob simply squirms and wears out.

A stiffer carcass gives the tyre a more planted feel under load, sharpening cornering precision and adding resistance to punctures, while the knob design is aimed at resisting tearing so the tyre keeps working deep into its life. This 140/80-18 size is DOT homologated and carries the M+S marking, so it suits registered enduro and trail bikes ridden to and from the trail.

Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified tyre technician using correct tyre levers or a machine — off-road carcasses are stiff and easy to damage during fitting.
Use a new tube (and rim tape in good condition) when fitting to a tube-type wheel, and make sure any rim lock is correctly seated and tensioned before final inflation.
Set cold inflation pressure to the figure specified by your motorcycle manufacturer for the intended use, and re-check it cold before every ride — off-road pressures drop quickly through casing flex and small punctures.
Ride the first outing gently, avoiding hard braking, full-lean cornering and aggressive acceleration until the release agents have scrubbed off the new tread surface.
Do not exceed the tyre's 70M load and speed rating, and keep to the load limits in your owner's manual.
Inspect the knobs regularly for tearing, chunking or a bent block base, and check the sidewalls for cuts, pinches or bulges after rocky rides — replace the tyre if the carcass is damaged.
Rotate or replace the tyre once the knobs are visibly rounded or torn; a worn Mid Hard loses its edge grip and braking bite well before the carcass gives up.
Wash with mild soap and water only. Keep petrol, chain lube, solvents and silicone tyre dressings off the tread and sidewalls — they degrade the rubber and leave the surface slippery.
Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors and welders, and any chemicals or fuels.
After road use on the way to the trail, allow the tyre to cool before checking pressures, and re-check torque on rim lock and valve nuts after the first ride on a freshly fitted tyre.
