Clean the outer shell with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap; rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry — avoid petroleum-based or solvent cleaners.
For the matte finish specifically, do not use wax, gloss polish, or silicone-based products, as these will alter the surface appearance; use a product formulated for matte finishes if treating the shell.
Clean the visor/shield with warm water and a mild detergent using a soft cloth; never wipe a dry visor, as grit will cause scratching.
If the interior liner is removable, hand-wash it in cool water with mild detergent, rinse well, and allow it to air dry fully before refitting — do not tumble dry or use direct heat.
Inspect the chin bar hinge and locking mechanism periodically; ensure it engages and releases smoothly and does not rattle or flex under light pressure.
Check the retention system (chin strap and buckle) regularly for signs of wear, fraying, or damage; replace if compromised.
Replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact, even if no external damage is visible — the internal EPS liner may be compromised.
Store the helmet in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, fuel, paint fumes, and solvents, all of which can degrade shell integrity and liner foam over time.
As a general guide, replace the helmet every five years from date of first use, or earlier if the fit, shell, or retention system shows deterioration.
