- Clean the outer shell with a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and water; avoid petroleum-based solvents, petrol, or abrasive cleaners, which can degrade shell materials and surface finishes.
- Clean the visor with a soft, lint-free cloth and mild detergent; never wipe a dry visor as this causes micro-scratches that impair visibility at night or in low light.
- If the interior liner and cheek pads are removable, hand-wash them in cool water with a gentle detergent and allow them to air-dry completely before reinserting — do not use a tumble dryer.
- Do not hang the helmet from its chin strap for extended periods, as sustained tension on the strap anchor points can cause distortion over time.
- Inspect the chin-strap buckle and retention system before every ride to confirm the fastening is secure and the strap shows no signs of fraying or wear.
- Replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact, even where no visible damage is apparent — EPS safety foam is a single-use material that does not recover after a hard strike.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, fuel vapour, and chemical fumes; prolonged UV exposure and hydrocarbon contact degrade foam and structural materials without visible warning signs.
- As a general guide, replace the helmet every five years from its manufacture date, or earlier if the shell, liner, retention system, or visor shows deterioration, regardless of impact history.
