- Clean the outer shell with a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and warm water; never use petrol-based solvents, abrasive cleaners or polish, as these can degrade the shell and finish.
- Clean the visor with a dedicated visor cleaner or a few drops of mild dish soap on a damp microfibre cloth; rinse thoroughly and allow to air-dry before refitting.
- If the interior liner and cheek pads are removable, hand-wash them in cool water with mild detergent and allow to dry completely before reassembly — do not machine-wash or tumble-dry.
- Store the helmet in its bag (if supplied) or a clean, cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, fuel vapour and chemicals, all of which can degrade EPS foam and shell integrity over time.
- Replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact, even if no visible damage is present — EPS foam is single-use and may not protect adequately after an impact.
- Inspect the retention strap and buckle regularly for fraying, corrosion or loose stitching; retire the helmet if the retention system is compromised.
- As a general guide, replace the helmet every five years from date of manufacture or sooner if the shell, liner or visor shows signs of deterioration — check the date-of-manufacture label inside the helmet.
- Do not paint, drill or modify the helmet shell, as this can compromise its structural integrity and void any applicable certification.
