- Wipe the outer shell with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution; never use solvents, petrol, abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can degrade the shell finish and structural integrity.
- Remove the interior liner and cheek pads (if removable) and hand wash in warm water with a mild detergent; allow all components to air dry completely before reinserting.
- Clean the visor with a soft, wet cloth; avoid dry or abrasive materials that can scratch the lens surface and impair vision.
- Do not leave the helmet resting on the visor, as prolonged contact can cause scratching or pressure distortion.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and UV when not in use, as this can degrade foam liners, shell materials and retention system webbing over time.
- Store the helmet in a protective bag or case in a cool, dry location, away from fuel vapours, oil and chemical fumes.
- Inspect the chin strap, buckle and retention webbing regularly for fraying, cracking or signs of wear, and cease use if damage is found.
- Replace the helmet after any significant impact — even without visible external damage, the internal EPS liner may be compromised and will no longer provide full protection.
- As a general industry guideline, consider retiring the helmet five years from the date of first use, or earlier if the shell, liner or retention system shows deterioration.
