- Clean the outer shell with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap; avoid solvents, petrol, or abrasive cleaners as these can degrade the finish and shell integrity.
- Clean the visor with a microfibre cloth and warm soapy water; never dry-wipe a dusty visor as it will scratch.
- Remove and hand-wash the inner liner and cheek pads (if removable) using mild detergent; allow to air-dry fully before reinserting — never use a dryer.
- Inspect the retention system (chin strap and buckle) regularly for signs of wear, fraying, or degraded webbing.
- After any impact — even if no visible damage is present — retire the helmet; EPS foam does not visibly deform but may be compromised.
- Store the helmet in its bag or a padded case away from direct sunlight, fuel vapours, and extreme heat, all of which accelerate material degradation.
- Do not paint, apply stickers, or use adhesives on the shell without confirming compatibility with the manufacturer, as some products attack the resin.
- Replace the helmet every five years from the date of manufacture regardless of apparent condition, in line with general industry guidance.
