- Clean the outer shell with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap; avoid petroleum-based solvents, abrasive cleaners or petrol, which can degrade the shell and liner materials.
- Remove and hand-wash the interior liner and cheek pads (if removable) in lukewarm water with mild detergent; allow to air-dry fully before refitting.
- Clean the visor with warm water and a soft cloth; never wipe a dry visor, as this scratches the surface.
- Inspect the visor mechanism, seals and locking tabs regularly; replace the visor if it becomes heavily scratched or the seal is compromised.
- After any impact — even one that appears minor — retire the helmet from use and have it inspected or replaced; helmet foam compresses permanently on impact and may not protect again.
- Store the helmet in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, fuels and chemicals; use a helmet bag to prevent surface scratches.
- Avoid resting the helmet on a fuel tank or any surface where petrol vapour contact is possible.
- Replace the helmet in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended service life; as a general industry guideline, helmets are often retired after five years from first use, but follow the manufacturer's specific guidance if provided.
