The Oxford Rainseal Waterproof Over Gloves are lightweight over-mitts that pull straight on over the riding gloves you already own, adding a waterproof layer when the weather turns. Rather than carrying a second pair of dedicated wet-weather gloves, you keep the fit and feel of your usual gloves and slip these on over the top when it starts raining.
They suit commuters and touring riders who want a cheap insurance policy against getting caught out — the mitts are light and packable enough to live permanently in a jacket pocket, tank bag or under the seat. A wide adjustable opening makes them quick to get on over a glove cuff, and reflective printing adds a little visibility in poor light.
Note that over-gloves are weather protection only — keep wearing your usual protective riding gloves underneath.

- Pull the over-mitts on over your existing riding gloves before you set off — the wide opening is sized to clear a glove cuff.
- Draw the opening over your jacket sleeve and adjust it so water runs off the sleeve rather than into the glove.
- Rinse road grime off with clean fresh water after wet rides, then shake off the excess.
- For heavier soiling, wipe with a damp cloth and a little mild soap; avoid solvents, petrol-based cleaners, bleach and fabric softeners, which can damage the waterproof membrane.
- Air dry at room temperature — keep them away from exhausts, heaters, radiators and tumble dryers, as direct heat can distort or delaminate the material.
- Make sure they are completely dry before packing them away; storing them damp encourages mildew and odour.
- Store loosely packed in a jacket pocket, tank bag or under the seat, and avoid leaving them crushed under heavy items for long periods.
- Periodically check the seams, palm overlay and reflective print for wear, and replace the mitts once the fabric is torn or they begin to leak.
- Over-gloves provide weather protection only — continue to wear your certified protective riding gloves underneath.
