The Oxford Dormex is a lightweight indoor motorcycle cover made for bikes kept in a garage, shed or storage unit. Its breathable membrane lets air move through the cover rather than trapping it, while keeping airborne dust off your bike — the same fine dust that causes thousands of tiny scratches in paintwork when it is wiped away.
Shaped to follow the lines of a motorcycle, the Dormex pulls in at the hem with an elasticated edge and is held steady by a belly strap, so it stays put in a breezy garage. Four sizes cover everything from small commuters through to large tourers. As a covered bike is also a less obvious target, it can add a mild deterrent to theft, though a fabric cover is easily cut and is no substitute for a lock or chain.

- Use indoors only — the Dormex is a breathable dust cover and is not intended as a waterproof outdoor cover.
- Let the bike cool completely before covering it; never allow the fabric to touch hot exhausts or engine parts.
- Keep the cover clear of sharp objects such as luggage racks, crash protection ends, aerials and rough shed fittings that could tear the fabric.
- Make sure the motorcycle is clean and dry before covering, so grit and moisture are not trapped against the paintwork.
- Fit the cover from the front and work it back, then pull the elasticated hem under the bodywork and fasten the belly strap for a snug fit.
- Remove the cover by lifting it clear rather than dragging it over the bike, which reduces the chance of grit scuffing the paint.
- Shake or brush loose dust off the outside of the cover from time to time so it does not build up and transfer to the bike.
- Fold and store the cover dry in a clean, dry place; putting it away damp can lead to mildew and odours.
- Check the fabric, elastic hem and belly strap for wear or tears now and then, and replace the cover if the surface is damaged.
- Remember a fabric cover can be cut, so continue to use a lock, chain or alarm rather than relying on the cover for security.
