- Inspect the helmet before every ride for cracks, dents, or damage to the shell and liner — do not use a helmet that has sustained an impact.
- Clean the outer shell with a soft cloth dampened with mild soapy water; rinse and air dry. Do not use solvents, petrol, or abrasive cleaners.
- Remove and hand-wash any removable liner or cheek pads in cool water with a gentle detergent; allow to dry fully before refitting.
- Do not store the helmet in direct sunlight or in a hot enclosed space (e.g. a car boot in summer), as prolonged UV and heat exposure degrades EPS foam and shell materials.
- Store in a helmet bag or on a padded shelf, away from fuel, oil, or chemical fumes.
- Replace the helmet after any significant impact, even if visible damage is not apparent — the EPS liner is a single-use energy absorber.
- Ensure the retention system (chin strap and buckle) is correctly fastened and adjusted to a snug fit before every ride.
- Follow the manufacturer's recommended replacement interval — helmets have a finite service life due to material ageing regardless of use.
