The Putoline KA2022 is a dual-layer open-cell foam air filter made as a direct replacement element for the Kawasaki KVF650 Prairie (2001-2002). It drops into the standard airbox and uses a thick, flat foam sealing ring that beds against the airbox face to seal without grease.
Putoline is a Dutch manufacturer that has specialised in oils, lubricants and filtration for motorcycles, scooters and quads for close to 50 years. Their fully reticulated foam is built from a honeycomb of uniform interlocking cells, so once treated with foam filter oil the element traps dirt right through its depth rather than only at the surface.
It suits quad and utility riders working in dusty or sandy conditions who want strong airflow, fine filtration and an element that can be washed, re-oiled and used again instead of replaced each service. Filter oil is not included and must be applied before fitting.

- Never fit the filter dry - foam elements only filter properly once evenly saturated with a purpose-made foam filter oil.
- Work the oil through the full thickness of both foam layers by kneading it in, then squeeze out the excess so the element is tacky rather than dripping.
- Check fitment before closing the airbox: the flat foam sealing ring must sit squarely and evenly against the airbox face all the way around, with no gaps or folds.
- Do not apply grease to the sealing ring - it is designed to seal greaseless and to breathe.
- Inspect and service more often when riding in dust, sand or mud; a clogged element restricts airflow and hurts performance.
- Clean with a dedicated foam filter cleaner and warm water. Avoid petrol and harsh solvents, which attack the foam and the glue seams.
- Squeeze - never wring or twist - the foam when washing and drying, as twisting can tear the element and split the seams.
- Allow the filter to dry completely before re-oiling; oil applied to damp foam will not distribute evenly.
- Replace the element if you find tears, hardened or crumbling foam, or seams that have started to separate.
- Store spare or cleaned filters in a sealed bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and fuels.
