The Putoline HO320 is a dual-layer, open-cell foam air filter made to fit the Honda CRF250R (2003-2009), CRF450R (2003-2008) and CRF450X (2005-2016). It replaces the standard airbox element and is designed to be washed, re-oiled and re-used rather than thrown away.
Foam filtration works differently to paper or cotton gauze: the reticulated foam traps dirt right through its depth instead of only on the surface, so it holds a large volume of dust while still flowing plenty of air. That makes it a sensible choice for riders working in sand, dust and mud, where the airbox takes a beating every ride.

- Treat the filter with a dedicated foam filter oil before fitting - an untreated foam element will not trap fine dust.
- Work the oil evenly through both foam layers and squeeze out the excess so the pores are coated rather than flooded; puddled oil restricts airflow.
- Fit the filter dry-handed into a clean airbox and check the sealing ring is seated flat all the way around - the foam ring is designed to seal without grease.
- Wipe out any dirt sitting in the airbox and around the filter cage before installing a freshly serviced element.
- Inspect the filter after every ride in sand, dust or mud, and service it more often the dirtier the conditions.
- Clean with a filter cleaner or degreaser intended for foam filters; avoid petrol and harsh solvents, which attack the foam and the glue seams.
- Wash by gently squeezing rather than wringing or twisting, which can tear the foam and split the seams.
- Allow the filter to dry fully before re-oiling and refitting - trapped moisture will dilute the oil and can find its way into the intake.
- Store serviced filters in a sealed bag in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight so they stay clean and the oil does not dry out.
- Replace the element if you find torn foam, a damaged sealing ring or seams that have started to separate.
