A flat sheet of Putoline open-cell air filter foam measuring 250 x 350 x 15mm, supplied in bulk so you can cut your own filter elements to shape. It suits riders and workshops who need to replace, repair or fabricate foam elements for dirt bikes, quads, karts, scooters and older road bikes where an off-the-shelf filter is hard to source.
Putoline's filter foam uses fully reticulated (open-cell) construction — a honeycomb of tiny, uniformly sized interlocking cells. Once treated with a dedicated foam filter oil, every passage through the foam works like a miniature oil-bath filter, so dirt is trapped throughout the full depth of the material rather than only at the surface. The result is strong airflow with genuine dust-holding capacity, and an element you can wash, re-oil and use again.
Supplied untreated and uncut. Foam filter oil, filter grease and any adhesive required for seams are sold separately.

- Use your old element or the airbox opening as a template when marking out the foam, and cut slightly oversize so the finished element compresses for a positive seal.
- The foam is supplied dry — soak it thoroughly in a dedicated foam air filter oil before fitting. Never run a foam element dry, as untreated foam filters very little.
- Work the oil evenly through the full thickness of the foam, then squeeze out the excess so the element is tacky rather than dripping.
- Squeeze, never wring or twist, when oiling or cleaning — twisting tears the open-cell structure and creates paths for dirt.
- Where seams are needed, join pieces with an adhesive intended for filter foam; ordinary glues can be attacked by filter oil and fuel vapours.
- Apply filter grease to the sealing face where the element meets the airbox to keep unfiltered air and dirt out.
- Clean with a dedicated foam filter cleaner or warm soapy water. Avoid petrol, kerosene and harsh solvents, which break the foam down and shorten its life.
- Allow the foam to dry completely before re-oiling and refitting; oiling damp foam leaves an uneven coating.
- Service more often in dusty, sandy or muddy conditions — check the element after every ride in those environments.
- Replace the element once the foam tears, hardens, goes brittle or no longer springs back when compressed.
- Store spare sheets flat in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and away from fuel and solvent fumes.
