- Fit using the motorcycle's existing frame anchor points — consult the included SW-Motech fitting instructions specific to the CRF1000L Africa Twin before mounting.
- Verify all mounting bolts are tightened to the torques specified in the SW-Motech fitting sheet; do not rely on feel alone.
- Check and re-torque all carrier bolts after the first 200–300 km of riding and at each major service interval thereafter.
- Do not exceed the maximum load rating stated in the fitting documentation; overloading can stress the frame mounts and compromise handling.
- Clean the carrier with a mild soap solution and a soft cloth; avoid high-pressure washing directly at mounting points or bearings.
- Inspect the powder-coat finish periodically for chips or scratches; treat bare metal promptly with a suitable touch-up paint or corrosion inhibitor to prevent rust.
- If the motorcycle is being used in deep water crossings, check that mounting hardware has not been dislodged and re-torque if necessary after submersion.
- Store the carrier assembled on the bike or in a dry location — avoid prolonged contact with damp surfaces, which can accelerate corrosion at bolt interfaces.
