The Oxford Atlas G-Hook is a self-tensioning tie-down strap supplied as a pair, in a 17mm width and 1.2m length in black. The flat webbed strap includes an elasticated section that keeps constant tension on the load, so it holds more securely than a rigid strap and far more safely than a conventional bungee.

Suited to riders securing luggage, covers, jerry cans or gear to a bike or rack, and equally at home on a bicycle or for general outdoor use. The G-hook end fitting locates over a suitable anchor point, and the strap length adjusts quickly to suit the load.

An easy replacement or spare set for anyone already running Oxford Atlas straps.

  • Attach the G-hook to a solid anchor point, clip into place, then pull the webbing through to tighten — check the strap sits flat and is not twisted.
  • Do not overstretch: maximum stretch is 50% of the strap length.
  • Always keep yourself and others out of the recoil path when fitting, tensioning or releasing the strap.
  • Inspect both straps before every use for fraying, cuts, UV damage or a distorted hook, and stop using them if any damage is found.
  • Route the strap away from hot exhausts, sharp edges, chains and other moving parts, and pad any sharp edges it must pass over.
  • Check tension after the first few kilometres of a trip and again at rest stops, as loads can settle.
  • Rinse off salt, mud and road grime with clean water, then allow the straps to dry fully before storing.
  • Store loosely coiled in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight rather than left permanently stretched.
  • Do not use the straps for lifting or as a recovery or towing strap.
