Oxford Atlas Advanced Tail Straps Kit

The Oxford Atlas Advanced Tail Straps Kit is a set of adjustable, self-tensioning elasticated straps designed to hold luggage and gear securely on the back of a motorcycle. The straps take up slack on their own as you tighten them, so a soft bag, dry bag or tail pack stays put without the constant re-checking that loose cords demand.

It suits commuters strapping a bag to the pillion seat, weekend riders carrying a tail pack, and tourers who want a tidier, stronger alternative to a conventional bungee. Adjustable length means the same kit works across a range of load sizes and bike tails.

Note: manufacturer-published dimensions, strap lengths and load ratings were not able to be confirmed for this listing and have been deliberately left out.

  • Adjustable self-tensioning straps that take up slack as they are tightened
  • Adjustable length to suit different loads and bike tail sections
  • Extra strong construction
  • Durable elasticated webbing
  • Stronger and safer alternative to a conventional bungee cord

  • Route the straps over the load and anchor them to solid, fixed points on the bike such as subframe loops, footpeg hangers or grab-rail mounts — never to indicators, mirrors, cables or bodywork.
  • Tension each strap evenly so the load sits flat and central, then check that nothing can shift, rotate or contact the rear wheel.
  • Keep the straps and any free ends well clear of the exhaust, chain, sprocket and rear tyre; tuck or secure loose tails so they cannot flap or be drawn into moving parts.
  • Re-check tension after the first few kilometres of a trip and at each fuel or rest stop, as soft luggage settles and compresses in use.
  • Inspect the webbing, stitching and hooks before every ride; retire the straps if you find fraying, cuts, heat damage, corrosion or elastic that no longer recovers its shape.
  • Avoid over-stretching the straps beyond their comfortable working range, and do not use them for towing, lifting or as a substitute for proper transport tie-downs when trailering a bike.
  • Rinse off road salt, mud and grime with clean water and mild soap, then air dry fully before storing — do not machine wash, tumble dry or use solvents, bleach or petrol-based cleaners.
  • Store loosely coiled in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, as prolonged UV exposure degrades elastic and webbing over time.
