- Clean the outer shell with a soft cloth dampened with mild soapy water; avoid petroleum-based cleaners, fuels, or solvents, which degrade shell materials and graphics.
- Clean the visor with warm water and a soft microfibre cloth; never dry-wipe a dusty visor or use abrasive cleaners, as both cause permanent scratching.
- If the inner liner is removable, hand-wash it with a mild detergent in cool water and allow it to air-dry completely before refitting — do not tumble dry.
- After any impact — including dropping the helmet — retire it from use even if no visible damage is apparent; the EPS liner is a single-use energy absorber that may be compromised invisibly.
- Store the helmet in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, fuel fumes, and chemical vapours; prolonged UV and chemical exposure degrade both the outer shell and internal foams.
- Inspect the chin strap and buckle regularly for fraying, cracking, or corrosion; the retention system is safety-critical and must fasten securely before every ride.
- As a general guide, replace the helmet no later than five years from the date of first use, or sooner if any component shows wear, damage, or reduced fit.
