  • Clean the outer shell with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap; never use petrol, solvents, or abrasive cleaners as these will degrade the shell finish and graphics.
  • Clean the visor with warm water and a soft microfibre cloth; avoid dry wiping or abrasive materials that will scratch the lens surface.
  • If the interior liner is removable, hand-wash it in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent and allow it to air-dry completely before refitting — do not tumble-dry.
  • Inspect the chin strap and retention buckle regularly for signs of fraying, cracking, or loss of function; replace the strap if any damage is found.
  • Store the helmet in a breathable bag or on a padded shelf, away from direct sunlight, high heat sources, and fuel or chemical vapours.
  • Replace the helmet after any significant impact — even with no visible external damage — as the inner EPS liner may be compromised and will not absorb a subsequent impact effectively.
  • Do not apply aftermarket stickers, paint, or chemical treatments to the shell without confirming compatibility with Nitro, as some products can weaken polycarbonate or composite materials.
  • As a general guide, retire and replace any helmet after five years from the date of manufacture, or sooner if the shell, liner, visor mechanism, or retention system shows deterioration.
