  • Clean the outer shell with a soft, damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap; never use petrol, solvents or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the shell and liner materials.
  • If the inner liner is removable, hand-wash it in cool water with a gentle detergent and allow it to air-dry completely before refitting — do not tumble-dry or expose to direct heat.
  • Inspect the chin strap and retention buckle before each ride; retire the helmet if stitching is frayed or the buckle does not latch securely.
  • Check that the peak visor screws are snug before every ride; a loose peak can detach at speed and create a hazard.
  • Replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact — EPS liner foam is single-use by design and may not protect after a hard strike even if no external damage is visible.
  • Store the helmet in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, fuels, brake fluid and solvents, all of which can degrade shell resins and liner foam over time.
  • As a general guide, retire and replace the helmet within five years of manufacture or as directed by the manufacturer, since materials degrade regardless of use.
