  • Clean the outer shell with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap; avoid petroleum-based solvents or abrasive cleaners, which can degrade the shell finish and graphics.
  • If the interior liner or cheek pads are removable, hand-wash them with mild detergent and allow to air dry completely before refitting — do not machine-wash or tumble dry.
  • Store the helmet in a breathable bag or on a flat surface away from direct sunlight, high heat (including a closed vehicle boot in summer), fuel, oils and chemical fumes, all of which can degrade EPS foam and shell materials over time.
  • Inspect the chin strap buckle, retention system, shell and visor mounting points for cracks, wear or looseness before each ride.
  • Replace the helmet after any significant impact, even when no external damage is visible — EPS foam liner is a single-use protective material that does not recover after absorbing a strike.
  • As a general industry guideline, manufacturers recommend retiring helmets no more than five years from the manufacture date printed on the inside label, regardless of apparent condition.
  • When fitting, ensure the helmet sits level, the cheek pads contact the cheeks firmly, and the chin strap is snug enough that you cannot fit more than two fingers between strap and chin.
