A Nissin front brake master cylinder for road motorcycles, built around a 1/2-inch (12.7mm) bore. Nissin is a long-established Japanese brake component manufacturer whose hydraulics are fitted as original equipment to many road bikes, so this unit suits riders replacing a worn, leaking or damaged handlebar-mounted master cylinder, as well as those building or repairing a hydraulic front brake system.

Bore size determines the balance between lever effort and available fluid volume, so this 12.7mm unit should be matched to the caliper and system it is being fitted to. Fitment varies between models — please confirm the bore size and mounting requirements for your motorcycle before ordering.

Sold as a bare master cylinder assembly; check the specifications tab for confirmed details only.

  • Fitting a brake master cylinder is safety-critical work — have it installed by a qualified motorcycle mechanic if you are not confident carrying out hydraulic brake work.
  • Confirm the bore size, lever and mounting arrangement suit your motorcycle before fitting; an incorrect bore will change lever feel and braking performance.
  • Use only the brake fluid type specified by your motorcycle manufacturer, from a sealed container, and never mix fluid types.
  • Bleed the system thoroughly after fitting and check for a firm lever with no sponginess before riding; re-check after the first short ride.
  • Inspect the master cylinder, banjo fitting and hose for weeping or fluid seepage each time you service or clean the bike.
  • Keep the reservoir cap and diaphragm seated correctly — brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air, which reduces braking performance over time.
  • Wipe spilled brake fluid off immediately with water; it damages paint, plastics and coatings.
  • Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and mild soap only; avoid solvents, degreasers and high-pressure washing directed at the reservoir or lever pivot.
  • Replace brake fluid at the interval specified in your motorcycle's service manual.
  • Store an unfitted unit in its packaging in a cool, dry place with the ports sealed to keep dirt and moisture out of the bore.
