  • Before starting, place the motorcycle on a secure stand and ensure the brake system is depressurised.
  • Inspect the master cylinder bore for scoring, pitting or corrosion before fitting the new kit — a damaged bore will not seal correctly and may require full cylinder replacement.
  • Clean the bore and reservoir thoroughly with fresh brake fluid (not solvent) to remove all contamination prior to assembly.
  • Lubricate new seals with clean brake fluid only — never use grease or petroleum-based lubricants, which degrade rubber seals.
  • Use only the brake fluid type (DOT rating) specified by the motorcycle manufacturer; do not mix fluid types.
  • After reassembly, bleed the entire front brake circuit to purge air and confirm a firm, consistent lever feel before riding.
  • Check all banjo bolt and reservoir connections for leaks after the first short test ride.
  • Dispose of drained brake fluid in accordance with local environmental regulations — it must not enter drains or waterways.
