The Nolan N40-5 GT Multi Config Classic is a crossover helmet built for riders who want one lid to cover commuting, weekend touring and scooter duties. Its removable chin guard, visor and adjustable peak can be fitted or taken off individually or together, giving eight different configurations — from the enclosed protection of a full face to a genuinely open-face jet set-up — with changes made in seconds and no tools required.

Underneath the versatility is a serious safety package: a LEXAN polycarbonate shell, a multi-density EPS liner made in five shell-matched sizes for a more accurate fit, and P/J homologation so the helmet is certified in both its full-face and open-face forms. The AirBooster vent system channels air through the helmet and extracts warm, stale air at the rear, while the internal VPS drop-down sun visor handles changing light without stopping to swap visors.

Finished in flat black, it suits riders who want understated looks with everyday practicality — and it is ready for Nolan's integrated N-Com communication systems when you want to stay in touch on the road.

Before every ride, check that the chin guard, visor and peak are fully engaged and locked in their mounts — never set off with a part only partially clicked in.
Adjust the Microlock 2 strap so the micrometric ratchet closes firmly with the chin strap snug under the jaw; re-check the length setting whenever the helmet changes riders.
Clean the shell and internal padding with lukewarm water and a mild neutral soap only. Petrol, thinners, ammonia-based glass cleaners and other solvents attack polycarbonate and can weaken the shell.
Wash the outer visor and the VPS drop-down visor by hand with lukewarm soapy water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Wiping a dry visor drags grit across the coating and scratches it.
Do not use solvents, abrasive cloths or paper towel on the VPS, and never apply anti-fog sprays or polish to it — its anti-fog and scratch-resistant treatments are factory-applied and can be stripped off.
If you fit a Pinlock insert, seat it on the adjustable pins with the silicone bead against the visor and handle it by the edges; clean it with a damp cloth only.
Raise the VPS fully when riding at night or in low light, and stow the peak if you are not using it rather than leaving it loosely attached.
After riding in rain, remove the outer visor and cheek pads where practical and let the helmet air-dry at room temperature. Keep it away from radiators, heaters and direct sunlight while drying.
Avoid stickers, adhesive tapes and paint on the shell; the adhesives and solvents involved can degrade the polycarbonate.
Store the helmet in its bag in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, and do not hang it on a mirror or handlebar end where the liner and EPS can be crushed.
Fit N-Com units following Nolan's instructions using the helmet's dedicated recesses, so the comfort padding and EPS are not modified.
Replace the helmet after any significant impact, even if there is no visible damage — the EPS compresses once and cannot be reused.
