The Rigg Gear Universal Saddlebag Quick Release Plates let you mount and remove soft luggage from your bike in seconds, without unthreading straps every time you stop. Each plate bolts to a tubular pannier rack, and the bag then latches on and off as a single unit.
They are designed around Nelson-Rigg's own Hurricane and Sierra saddlebags, but also suit most aftermarket soft panniers and can be hard mounted to many plastic hard cases. Built from aircraft-grade aluminium with a powder-coated and anodised finish and stainless steel hardware, they are aimed at adventure and dual sport riders who load and unload luggage often, or want to strip the bike down quickly at the end of a ride.
Supplied as a pair. Padlock, 20 mm latch, extension bracket and straps are separate items.

- Check your rack's tube diameter before fitting — the plates suit most tubular racks up to 18 mm, and 20 mm racks require the optional latch. Nelson-Rigg's quick release plate rack fitment guide lists confirmed rack applications.
- Where the rack is offset around the exhaust, use the optional aluminium extension so the plate and bag sit clear of hot pipes.
- Mount both plates level and at matching heights left to right so the bags sit square and don't foul the pillion pegs, indicators or rear wheel.
- Tighten the stainless hardware firmly on assembly, then re-check all fasteners after your first loaded ride and periodically after that — corrugations and off-road vibration can work screws loose.
- Slide the bag fully onto the plate until the release latch engages, and confirm it is latched before riding off.
- Fit a padlock (sold separately) through the release latch when leaving the bike unattended.
- Keep loads within the 13 kg (30 lb) limit per plate, or your pannier rack's rating if it is lower, and pack heavier items low and towards the front of the bag.
- Wash with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Avoid solvents, degreasers and high-pressure washers, which can dull or lift the anodised and powder-coated finish.
- Rinse off mud, salt and road grime after wet, coastal or off-road riding and dry the plates, then work the latch a few times to clear grit from the mechanism.
- Inspect the plates, latch and mounting hardware for cracks, distortion or damaged threads before long trips, and replace any worn or corroded fasteners.
- Remove the bags from the plates when transporting the bike or storing it long term, and store the bags and any loose hardware somewhere dry.
